Do you want to make our business more marketable and user-friendly? Public relations (PR) is the managing of outside communication of an organization or business to create and maintain a positive image. The press release is a time-honored method of putting information before the media. This is especially true for businesses and organizations seeking an increased exposure. It takes the form of a one or two page document detailing your message, generally slanted to favor your business goals. In its most basic form, the news release has the name and contact number of your media spokesperson, followed by some points to trigger the interest of a media outlet, hoping they would ‘pick up’ the story. This is also referred to as MEDIA RELATIONS.
The immergence of the Internet has made information readily available to everyone with a computer, and now we have gone full circle back to true PUBLIC RELATIONS. Media outlets are still ‘pitched’, but now your information and message is also available to search engines, social networks and viral marketing sites all over the Net and across the world.
The ways we are advertising are changing. Wouldn't it be nice to hand pick your target audience? Well, you can, using on-demand Internet audio programs and podcasts. Podcasting cannot be ignored when it comes to Internet marketing. A podcast is a multimedia file that may combine sound, visual, and textual information, distributed over the Web via syndication feeds (RSS). Personal Life Media is a firm that represents individual podcasters and bloggers and sells ads on their behalf in aggregate with the other content in the network and offers a revenue share back to the content owner. Personal Life Media also sells sponsorships of specific shows if they have an audience and format large enough to handle a direct relationship.

Press Releases
One of the best ways to get the word out about developments at your store is the press release. Used by businesses both big and small, the press release not only announces what's new, but it helps solidify your standing as a legitimate business. Look at some Press Release examples. We conduct more than a 15 minute interview, we put ourselves in your shoes, try to understand your challenges, obstacles and truimphs. Only then can we make a realistic contributiuon to spreading your online visibility.
Here are a few tips to get you started:
- Make sure your news is newsworthy - Will your announcement matter to your audience? It should or you're wasting your time and theirs.
- Always include your contact information at the top of the release (contact name, address, phone and fax numbers, email address and web site).
- Write a headline that makes the audience want to continue reading.
- Lead the first paragraph with your location and date: SAN DIEGO, Calif. (January 1, 2008).
- Keep paragraphs short and to the point.
- Two or three sentences is plenty of text per paragraph.
- Double space between paragraphs - don't indent.
- Include the important facts, leave out the flowery text.
- Keep printed press releases to one page; keep e-releases "above the fold" (500 words or less is usually sufficient).
- At the bottom of your release, be sure to include a general statement about your company/organization. Use the first paragraphs to announce your news (who, what, when, where and why); then use the subsequent paragraphs to back up/support that announcement with quotes, statistics, etc.
